Job Application

It can be a big step for teenagers and young adults to apply for their first job, and I am finding that it is also a big deal for me to apply for my first post-psychosis job outside of the home.

My psychosis hit my self-confidence hard, and for good reason – I was VERY unwell. I’ve been needing to recover, and I’ve had less functioning than the usual person for a while. But luckily, I’m feeling quite well now and am ready for a new step forward in my life.

I have worked a little in some different areas since I became particularly unwell in 2014. I have tutored Japanese, I have sold artworks, and for a time now have been writing a novel.

I am not sure if I will continue the novel, however, as I’m finding myself a bit cooped up at home. I want to get out there and meet new people, but at the same time I have limited money for hobbies as I’m on the DSP, so I’m thinking that getting a low-pressure job could be the best thing for me.

So today I applied for a job at Coles. Small step for mankind, large step for me.

I will spend a few days applying for different positions, but also, if I can’t seem to get a retail position, perhaps I will try to sell some art again. Art doesn’t bring in much money (you spend almost as much on materials as you get in profit), but it is nice to see faces of the lovely people who purchase them.

Let’s see how we go. :)
